Dates and Deadlines
Review the timeline below to learn more about the Torch nomination process.
January 1
- Northeastern University Regular Decision Application Deadline
- All Torch applicants must complete the Common Application or Coalition Application.
- We will waive the application fee for Torch nominees. To request a fee waiver, you must select “Other” as the fee waiver type in the payment section when submitting the Common Application and Northeastern Supplement. We will grant the fee waiver after verifying that a student has been nominated for the Torch Scholars Program. - Please note, Torch Scholars are selected from Northeastern’s Regular Decision applicant pool. If a Torch nominee applies to Northeastern via the Early Decision or Early Action rounds and is admitted, they will no longer be eligible for the Torch Program. However, if the nominee is not admitted during the Early Decision or Early Action rounds, their application will be deferred to the Regular Decision round, and they will remain eligible for the Torch Program.
- All application materials, including your nomination form, will be considered by the Torch Scholars Selection Committee.

- Torch Scholars Nomination Deadline
- The nomination is due January 1. To submit a nomination for the Torch Scholars Program, nominators must create an account to access the Torch Nominator Portal. Through the portal, you will submit nominations, view a list of submitted nominees, and access links to edit current-year submissions. If you already have an account, you may access the portal here.
- Priority Deadline to Apply for Financial Aid*
- Students should complete the FAFSA and CSS Profile in order to be considered for the Torch Scholars program as well as other federal and institutional financial assistance.

February
- Finalists will be notified and asked to complete a non-cognitive assessment and complete three additional essays prior to their interview day.
March
- Finalists will participate in an Interview Day, which will include an individual interview, group interview, math assessment, and faculty lecture.
- Torch Scholars Program decisions are announced. Due to the unique nature of this program, students selected as Torch finalists will not receive their admission decisions from Northeastern until after scholarship recipients are announced.
