Pre-work

Please take the time to review and complete the required pre-interview items no later than Thursday, March 2. You may wish to track your progress on your Torch Interview Day Checklist.

1. Torch Interview Day Schedule

2. Torch Interview Day Math Assessment

  • As part of the lead-up to Torch Interview Day, we ask that you complete a short, non-calculus-based online math assessment. Please review the instructions for accessing and taking the assessment, as well as our Academic Integrity and Honest Statement. Click here to download the instructions for the math assessmentPlease note, you may only take this math assessment once.

3. Torch Interview Day Group Experience

  • As part of Torch Interview Day, you will engage in an hour-long group interview. Each incoming Torch class is a team, providing support and encouragement to each other throughout their time at Northeastern. This is why we are interested in seeing you engaged in a group exercise where healthy debate and different opinions can be fostered and supported. Your discussion will be facilitated by a Northeastern staff member. To prepare for this part of Interview Day, complete this required reading.

4. Torch Interview Day Academic Class Experience

  • As part of Torch Interview Day, you will also engage in an hour-long academic class, similar to one experienced by students in our Northeastern writing and literature classes. The discussion will be facilitated by a Northeastern English writing professor. You will be reading an excerpt of a chapter titled “Racism Drained the Pool” from Heather McGhee’s 2021 book, The Sum of Us: What Racism Costs Everyone and How We Can Prosper Together.
